Devotion Hour

Devotion Hour is a time dedicated to spending one-on-one time with God in prayer, reading the Bible and personal worship.

Why would we do this together as a church?

For the same reason that the disciples prayed together for days in the upper room, awaiting the promised gift that would come at Pentecost.

When the family of Christ gathers together to honor him, placing Him at the forefront of their minds, beautiful moves of the Holy Spirit happen.

Devotion Hour may be even more important than the Sunday Service message that is preached. Why? Because this is a time for LISTENING to what the Lord would say directly to YOU! A time without the distractions of modern day life pulling at you.

It is a time of sanctuary and peace.

It may seem difficult and awkward at first, especially if you have never allowed yourself to just REST in the presence of the Lord.

I encourage you to begin anyway. Come for the last 15 minutes if that is all you can do at first. Pray through the discomfort until you feel His holy presence. As you become more comfortable with this practice, begin to extend your time until you can sit for the entire hour, abiding in the one who loves you, the one who died to save you from sin and give you eternal life.

Psalms 46:10 - He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Nobody is taking attendance on whether or not you can make it to the church during this time. I believe there is power when the body of Christ prays together in one location, but if you cannot be HERE then please participate in some or all of this time in your own space, whether it is at home, on your drive, or sitting outside in the parking lot.

So few get to experience the peace and joy that we've been promised because we are too busy to slow down and just BE with Him.

Don't wait. Begin this week. And may the loving presence of the Lord Almighty be upon you.

Prayerfully,

Pastor Misty Surine
